Online cosmetics retailer wins prestigious business award

Kate Morris, founder of Adore Beauty, has won the Marie Claire Young Business Women’s Award at the recent 2010 Telstra Victorian Business Women’s Awards.

Growing up in Tasmania, Kate Morris was often unable to buy cosmetics advertised in magazines. So in 1999, aged 21, she developed the idea for an online cosmetics shop.

Having launched a decade ago, adorebeauty.com.au has grown into a hugely successful online business which markets 100 cosmetics brands and generates more than $2 million in annual revenue.

The website stocks both retail and spa brands such as Clarins, Guinot, medik8 and Ultraceuticals.

In addition online cosmetics retailing, the website includes the Adore Beauty Forum which functions as a social platform for beauty consumers to share their passion for product.

The site also boasts an extensive beauty review section, allowing website visitors to research their next beauty purchase and read about the experiences of others.

Telstra Chief Marketing Officer and Telstra Business Women’s Awards Ambassador Kate McKenzie stated that all award finalists provided career inspirations for Victorian women.

“The winners of the Victorian awards are successful business women whose leadership qualities and achievements provide inspiration for women across the state.”
