Synergie Skin Introduces PressPause, a Glycation-Targeting Serum for Menopausal Skin

Australian cosmeceutical brand, Synergie Skin is proud to announce the launch of its latest ground-breaking formulation, PressPause.

PressPause is a clinically-backed serum developed with the menopausal and perimenopausal woman in mind. Backed by Terri Vinson Jones’ Clean Science® philosophy, PressPause joins Synergie Skin’s line-up of highly efficacious serum formulations aptly targeted at treating common ageing-related skin indications.

In light of the launch, Professional Beauty spoke exclusively with the Synergie Skin founder to understand the various components that make up PressPause:

Synergie Skin founder, Terri Vinson Jones

Terri, you flag glycation-induced ageing as an area PressPause treats. Can you further explain the significance of this?

Glycation-induced ageing is an often-overlooked factor in skin health. Glycation occurs when sugar molecules bind to proteins like collagen and elastin on our dermis, forming advanced glycation end-products (AGEs). These AGEs weaken the structural integrity of the skin, leading to a loss of elasticity and firmness, and an overall dull complexion.

Glycation accelerates during menopause due to a number of factors. Reduced oestrogen levels result in increased free radical formation, which in turn promotes the formation of AGEs. Menopause also changes our ability to metabolise sugars leading to higher circulating glucose and hence more raw material for formation of AGE. Menopause is also linked to a higher state of low-grade inflammation which also exacerbates accumulation of AGEs.

Finally, glycation directly impacts collagen quality and with a reduction in oestrogen, collagen production dramatically reduces so there is a decline in our ability to create and repair lost and damaged collagen.

I formulated PressPause to specifically address glycation with two active ingredients: Pink Microalga Extract (Dunaliella Salina) and the dipeptide Carnosine. These ingredients work synergistically to neutralise free radicals, inhibit glycation processes, and protect existing collagen and elastin. This not only slows visible signs of ageing but also restores skin resilience, making it a vital component in treating hormonal skin changes during perimenopause and menopause.”

PressPause carries a milk consistency. Why does product texture matter in its overall effectiveness?

“Product texture isn’t just about the feel – it plays a crucial role in how active ingredients are delivered to the skin. Whilst some actives such as Dunaliella Salina/Pink algal extract and Soy Genistein Isoflavones are oil soluble, others such as carnosine dipeptide are water soluble. The water-lipid milk consistency of PressPause is specially designed to enhance absorption of all actives without leaving a heavy or greasy residue. The milk serum base creates an elegant light texture and ensures that the powerful actives penetrate deeply into the skin, targeting the layers where they can deliver maximum benefit.

It also acts as a perfect base for more emollient moisturisers often needed for more mature skin. The lightweight texture makes it ideal for layering with other products in a skincare routine, ensuring versatility without compromising efficacy. It’s the perfect balance of comfort and performance, which is critical for women seeking a product that feels as good as it performs.

Menopause is a trending talking point amongst professionals and consumers alike. Are you looking to craft a range beyond PressPause that is dedicated to treating this demographic?

Menopause is more than a trending topic. With lifespan and healthspan extending over the centuries, women are now living many decades in menopause and this stage of life should be celebrated! I have experienced my own personal journey with this life stage that deserves meaningful attention in our industry.

PressPause is a pivotal step in addressing the unique needs of women experiencing oestrogen decline, complementing our existing range of pro-ageing solutions designed to enhance skin resilience, youthfulness and confidence.

At Synergie Skin, we celebrate the natural changes that come with gaining wisdom and celebrating birthdays. We strive to empower women to feel confident in their skin at every life stage. My focus is on developing evidence-based products that address the root causes of skin changes during hormonal transitions, such as glycation, collagen depletion, and increased sensitivity.

While PressPause is tailored specifically for women over 40 experiencing perimenopause and menopause, our broader range ensures everyone – regardless of life stage – has access to solutions that support their skin’s natural processes.

Looking ahead, I have more targeted products in development. These innovations will continue to embody our commitment to Clean Science® and deliver the evidence-based solutions our customers have come to trust.”
