Beauty Industry Veteran Launches Service-Trading Platform, Swapp

Discover the new way to trade services with industry professionals.

Harmony Tera is a beauty therapist with over 17 years of experience, and now, the founder and CEO of Swapp: a beauty industry service-trading platform. Her innovation enables beauty industry professionals to perform and receive treatments, all without the frictions sometimes associated with trading services.

“Before Swapp, trading services was usually done informally—through word-of-mouth or casual agreements,” Harmony explains to PB. “But these kinds of trades often lacked structure and fairness, which could lead to miscommunication, uneven exchanges, or even feelings of guilt or obligation. Swapp takes all those issues out of the equation by offering a system that’s structured, transparent, and flexible.”

With a $39 monthly subscription, Swapp members exchange their services for points instead of money. Points can be earned and redeemed on treatments performed by other members. Members set how many points their services are worth, ensuring they receive a fair reward for their efforts. Current treatments include massage, brows, lashes, hair, and spray tanning, with plans to expand into dermal therapy and alternative treatments.

Harmony notes that since financial constraints are one of the biggest challenges for beauty professionals, Swapp’s point system allows members to access various services regardless of their financial situation. This is particularly beneficial for members who don’t have someone in their network who performs the treatments they seek, therefore having to pay for them.

“The point system is at the core of Swapp—it takes money out of the equation,” she says. “It ensures everyone gets equal value, regardless of the type of service they’re offering. It also encourages collaboration through things like content creation days and mentoring, helping members grow their businesses and skill sets without the financial stress.”

Swapp members can use the platform to find models to build their portfolios, learn skills from experienced members, or strengthen connections with other professionals in the beauty industry. Harmony says feedback from early adopters indicates Swapp provides opportunities for members of all experience levels to collaborate.

“’Swappers’ are loving the chance to try new services and fill their quieter times by making new connections,” she elaborates. “We’ve seen lots of members sharing content with each other, and there have even been quite a few client referrals crossing industries. It’s been so rewarding to see how much value people are already getting from Swapp!”
