Andre Bouclet created Thalgo in 1964 and operated the first marine cosmetology laboratory. The micronisation of algae technique was discovered and patented by Andre in 1966. It is the only micronisation technique to-date that ensures perfect integrity of the active principles as well as their high cutaneous bioavailability.

Thalgo was acquired by the Jean-Claude Sirop in 1999. “Lover of the sea and follower of natural medicine, I very quickly sensed the potential of marine cosmetics. Since 1999 I have been encouraging a pioneering spirit, creative, daring and the cult of performance, to create a more natural, more effective and respectful cosmetics that only the oceans can provide,” said Jean-Claude Sirop, CEO of the Thalgo Group.

To celebrate the brand’s 50th birthday BLC Cosmetics (Australian distributors of Thalgo) are holding exclusive stockist events throughout Australia in the month of September. Celebrations kicked off last night at the Artarmon Training Centre in NSW where Nicola Gleeson, general manager of BLC Cosmetics took VIP NSW clients down memory lane and introduced them to Thalgo Prodige Des Oceans – a new product created especially for the 50th anniversary.
