Hundreds of nail technicians will showcase their best work to a panel of expert judges from as far afield as Australia, Japan and the US, and fight it out for a prestigious Nailympics London medal or trophy. With the introduction of a brand new category this year, Salon Nails, the competition is set to be more exciting than before.

Nailympics3With last year’s standards being incredibly high, this year’s entries are expected to blow the judges away. This year’s judges include Leah Light from New Zealand and Jules Korshoonof from Australia.

There is also a whole host of leaders within the nail industry lending their support to this event. Sponsors include Scratch magazine – established in 2003, Scratch delivers comprehensive advice and information on nail-related issues.

Also sponsoring the nail competition are some of the most well-respected brands in the nail industry. KOKO Nail, Magis Foil Nail Wraps, Gellux Profile, Essie, Nubar, Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer, IBD, Rome Nail Academy, REM and LCN are all sponsoring the event, securing the competition’s place as a top international nail competition.

Salon Nails is a fresh new category for 2013 whereby all models are allocated a new technician to sit with for the duration. Therefore, just as it occurs in the salon, the competitor will be enhancing the nails of a stranger. Another new element is that the judging will not be blind and the technician must justify exactly what they have chosen to create on the nails.

Nailympics2Soak Off Gel Manicure will be 30 minutes this year and there will be no need for table presentation. This year, three new Winner of Winners trophies are to be added to the wealth of medals and trophies already on offer.
