Nail extravaganza arrives in Melbourne

The first Melbourne Nail Extravaganza, “a mini-expo for trade only”, will opens its doors to around 200 nail professionals in Melbourne this Sunday.

Organised by Vivid Nails director Viv Simmonds and Beauty World director Ray Daley, the one-day event will host 15 exhibitors ‒ Young Nails, Switch Funky, Brillbird, Indigo, Lish, Fluid, Emmerson Crystals, Nail Perfect, Akzentz, Cuccio Nail Design, Emendee, Light Elegance, Vanilla Nail Art, Advanced Nail Art Supplies and Perfect Nails.

Viv says the extravaganza has been created to meet the specific needs of nail professionals which are often ignored at larger beauty industry events such as Beauty Expo Melbourne and Beauty Expo Australia.

“Due to the varied nature of trade events and their tendency to cover a wide range of markets (hair, beauty, spa, natural therapies, etc) there has been a lack of ‘nail specific’ events that exist around Australia.”

She says the Extravaganza is being “held in a cosy environment” at the Best Western Airport Hotel & Convention Centre “without flashy display stands or the like” to allow “people who are most passionate about the industry to connect, network and impart knowledge to and from working nail technicians”.

“This makes the extravaganza more of an individual experience for not only the exhibitors, but also for the technicians themselves.

“It means exhibitors know that the people they are seeing are within the nail industry, and not just a beauty professional looking for advice on how to do their own nails at home – and that visitors know they will not have to crawl through aisles of generic supplies, discounted body products and the like in order to get directly in touch with the nail brands that they use or would like to know more about.”

Although no formal education sessions will be held at the Extravaganza, “30 different educators will be on hand” and the organisers are hoping “that this smaller event will allow nail technicians to have the time for greater interaction with exhibitors”.

The Melbourne Nail Extravaganza will be held on Sunday April 22 from 9-30am to 5.30pm.
