RAFW: Napoleon collaborates on eight shows

Napoleon Perdis was kept busy at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, as makeup director and eight shows.

Napoleon makes up a model for Alex Perry's show

The Alex Perry show required “a little shimmer, a little shadow and a lot of chutzpah—informed by night-time glamour”. Models eyes were lined in black kohl and embellished with a dramatic metallic charcoal extended to the temples. A glint of silver placed strategically in the eye socket updated the smokey eye look. Luminous skin and soft pink lips completed the funky, slightly futuristic look.

Napoleon for Camilla

Designer Camilla Franks ordered a series whimsical, theatrical and decidedly fantastical makeup looks to accompany her new collection. The Napoleon Perdis team responded with four head-turning interpretations that were the polar opposite of work-appropriate. Eyebrows were camouflaged and the eyes were circled in vibrant hues of orange, blue, pink and gothic-inspired black for one section. Skin and lips were left otherwise bare to emphasise the exuberant eye statements.

For Karla Spetic, pale, ethereal beauty was the message. The “no-makeup look” can be as complicated, if not more so, than an obvious glamour statement. So, in this case Napoleon Perdis used an artful blend of skin-prep serum, primer, foundation and an array of nude tones on eyes and lips. The result was a mix of fragile sensuality and steely grace.

Napoleon for Ruby Smallbone

Studied, poised and ultra-matte, the look for Ruby Smallbone’s show was a nod to restrained elegance. The only colour used on this discerning woman was a hint of warm nutmeg brushed on the contours of the face.

The Sabatini White look was about simplicity, sleekness and demure style. Napoleon Perdis eschewed a colour statement for subtlety; using foundation, a dusting of powder, a little bronzer on the cheekbones and a blend of neutral tones in the eye socket. Brows were strengthened and elevated to Brooke Shields proportions—“wow brows” being one of the most important beauty trends of the moment.

Napoleon also makeup directed shows by Dhini, Dion Lee and Rachel Gilbert.
