Napoleon Perdis – S/S 2011 Makeup Trends

One of Australia’s leading makeup artists, Napoleon Perdis, revealed his three key looks for Spring/Summer in his role as Official Makeup Partner for the David Jones Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Launch at Sydney’s Royal Hall of Industries.

“It’s been amazing working with the David Jones team,” he said the morning after the night before. “They’ve made a really strong, confident statement in investing and expanding their designer portfolio with such a great line-up of local and international names. Fashion fuels my brand and I was truly honoured to be asked to collaborate with David Jones for this event. Great fashion needs great makeup!” he said.

The makeup maestro’s exclusive looks for the occasion were a fresh, orange lip against a clear, glossy eye, a beautiful bronzed nude, and an Old Hollywood-inspired red lip worn to best effect by Miranda Kerr, the supermodel mum who made her first strut down the catwalk after giving birth to baby Flynn in January.

“Miranda was amazing to work with,” adds Napoleon. “We worked together on an Alex Perry show many moons ago and we’ve caught up in LA recently, but spending time with her backstage and having her lead the show wearing my makeup looks was such a buzz. She’s really going places – watch her space!”

Napoleon Perdis is also the official makeup sponsor of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane (20th – 26th August). According to Kate Squires, National Creative Team Leader, this season is based on bold lips, dewy skin, earthy accents and killer contouring. "The great thing about beauty trends this season is that everything is simple," she adds. "A flawless base, structured cheekbones and a statement lip will go the distance."

The Nairobi, a shimmering gold look inspired by Perdis' travels to Africa, is set to make an appearance on the runways of the Brisbane based fashion festival. "The secret of this look is contouring. Shading under your cheekbones will sharpen your features", Squires says. "Channel on earthy African goddess with copper and bronze accents on the eyes and lips."

Professional Beauty reveal all three exclusive makeup looks in our How-To section; Old Hollywood, Young Hollywood and Nairobi.
