The launch of Bobbi Brown’s new long-wear eye collection took place today at La Croix Shop, The Rex in Potts Point.
La Croix – French for 'The Cross' – is a unique retail and cafe space filled with beautiful objects sourced from France and Belgium. It is a stylish and elegant setting fitting for the Bobbi Brown brand.
International makeup artist Kai Vinson was there to introduce beauty journalists and guests to the new range. Kai has been with Bobbi Brown for 8 years and is now based in Hong Kong to head up the Asia-Pacific region.
After a delicious breakfast of croissants, fruit salad and canapés, guests took a seat at the back of the café where Kai described and demonstrated the products on a model. Kai transformed the model with a few strokes of colour genius, and left guests wishing he could do the same to them!
The motto of the new makeup range is “From coffee to cocktails without smudging.” Bobbi wanted to create a range which not only looks and feels great on application in the morning but is still flawless at the end of the night. Most women desire long-wear makeup but find it a challenge.
“Bobbi listens to women to give them what they want. Her philosophy has never changed, every woman can be their own makeup artist, embracing who they are,” said Kai.
One of Bobbi Brown’s most popular products are gel eyeliners despite the fact that 70 per cent of women still use eye pencils. Bobbi wanted to create an eyeliner that acted like a gel – easy to apply with a soft, neat and long-wear finish. On appliaction the eyeliners can be smudged before they set.
To create the perfect gel eyeliner Bobbi sent her formulas to women all over the world to trial, taking their feedback into account, until she had created something they were all impressed with.
The new 16 hour wear mascara has a super-fine brush allowing every lash to be coated for a glamorous finish. Kai says although it is waterproof and humidity proof it is easy to remove. Also in the range is Bobbi’s long wear cream eyeshadows which give superior colour and a photo-ready finish.
