Past student, Margarett De Guzman, headed the Academy’s makeup team for the Men’s Show and the Paralympians Uniform Launch. The team compromised of 10 makeup artists from past and current students of the Academy of Makeup Sydney campus.

The Men’s Show included designers such as From Britten, Zsadar, Kalb & Etiw, Injury, Mils and Nathan Paul. The look showcased models with natural makeup with a strong eye. The Academy of Makeup team used Gorgeous Cosmetics Sheer Brilliance Foundation and Conceal It Concealing Crème to achieve a perfect base. There was a lot of contouring on the cheeks to add dimension to the face, which was a big trend at the MBFWA.

At the MBFWA Men's Show, the Academy team fell in love with the new men's fashion trends of preppy to bright colours to surreal artistic designs.

Leader for the Academy of Makeup’s backstage team, Margarett De Guzman says, “During our time at the Academy, our mentors taught us how to be prepared for events like this, which are usually quite intense and crazy. We learned how to apply makeup in a certain time frame, without compromising the quality.”

The Mils show called for a rosy cheek while the Nathan Paul swimwear models received a mixture of blush and bronzed touch.

“The main thing I learned was how to work as a team, and even though there is pressure, as makeup artists, we must be calm and flexible,” Margarett says.
