Makeup is now child’s play

Kelly Ferguson, an Australian mother of three, has launched a makeup collection especially for children

The Kooki U mineral-based makeup collection includes mascara, contouring cream, foundation, concealer, eyes shadow, blush cream, eye liner, bronzer, a brow palette and lipstick, as well as body shimmers, nail polishes and bath care products “for every child to have fun with”.

Kelly says she created the range, that makes “play and experimentation fun and affordable” after find it hard to keep her two young daughters out of her make up bag.

“After years of ballet and dancing my daughters’ interest in makeup and cosmetics grew, but so did their interest in my make up,” she says.

“I grew tired of finding my favourite lipsticks broken and eye shadows smashed, so I started to look around for a brand of Australian make up that I could buy for them, so they could continue their experimentation without wrecking my favourite products.”

Finding it “difficult to find an affordable, age appropriate range that delivered all the fun and colour” she wanted for her girls, Kelly created the Kooki U range.

“I just wanted something light, healthier, and appropriately priced for my kids.”

According to Kelly, the range differs from typical women’s makeup which tends “to be heavier, darker and more expensive” and includes “cream-based options to help reduce the clean-up process created by dropped powders”.

The products, with retail prices ranging from $7.95 to $24.95, are made using natural ingredients such as natural shea butter, aloe vera juice, vitamin E, beeswax, oils (almond, avocado, rosehip, pumpkin, apricot kernel), green tea and Kakadu plum extract.

Kelly says the range, is aimed at five- to 16-year old’s but it’s perfect for all age groups (even mums).

“We are committed to providing good quality cosmetics that our children will have fun using, and parents will be comfortable letting them use.”
