Make blue eyeliner your next kit update

Move over black eyeliner, the new kid on the block is electric blue. The blue rimmed eyes at Jonathan Saunders SS16 were graphic, fun and youthful – perfect for a younger client.

London Fashion Week SS16 has kicked off this week and it seems the eye makeup colour of choice is electric blue. First Marc Jacobs and Diane von Furstenberg sent models down their respective runways with slicks of eye-popping blue applied across the eyelids, and now Brit designer Jonathan Saunders has joined the blue moment.

Makeup artist for the Jonathan Saunders show, Lucia Pieroni, rimmed models’ eyes with MAC gel eyeliner in a stunning azure blue, making sure she joined both lines at each corner. From a distance, the effect is a pretty haze of blue, which makes the eyes themselves look sea colour. Up close, the look becomes much more graphic and fun.

To heighten the effect, Lucia kept the rest of the face bare; even brows were left virtually untouched. The result is a look that’s striking, youthful and fun. It’s the perfect inspiration for younger clients who want something bold and different but don’t want (or aren’t allowed) a lot of makeup applied.
