MAC joins Beauty Expo Melbourne

MAC lovers rejoice – MAC Cosmetics will be exhibiting at Beauty Expo Melbourne for the first time this month.

The cosmetic powerhouse will be showcasing its latest products as well as some of its “beloved and iconic products” during the two-day event at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

According to Expo organisers, “a growing beauty market in Melbourne and industry demand for reputable brands” were key incentives for MAC to join the expo.

Apart from exhibiting at the event, the cosmetics giant will also sharing its makeup artistry expertise in education sessions by two of its Global PRO artists – Nicole ‘Pinky’ Thompson and Carol Mackie.

Pinky, who has forged a successful international career as a makeup artist over the past 15 years, will reveal her best tips to “making your mark in the makeup industry” during the
‘Inside the Makeup Industry with MAC’ session.

Her “honest and in-depth discussion” will cover building and curating a portfolio, working with clients and celebrities, how to get re-booked, the power of social media, must-have kit favourites and breaking into an agency.

“I have been doing makeup for possibly longer than I would like to admit and I’ve learned a lot of things along the way,” she says.

“I’ve also made a lot of mistakes so I want to share with you all the things I’ve learned in my makeup career so far and how it’s going to help yours.”

Carol, who has just finished working “on 24 shows in Paris and Milan”, will share her “makeup hacks and the latest trends in skin, colour, glitter and the magic of gloss” during the ‘Backstage Beauty Business’ session.

With over 20 years of experience in celebrity, editorial, fashion and red carpet makeup, Carol says she will teach attendees how to take dreamy designer looks “from the luxurious skin of Lanvin to the colourful wonderland of Westwood” and adapt them to their clients’ needs.

“I want to share all those amazing backstage secrets and give all those tips and tricks on how to create amazing skin too,” she says.

Carol and Pinky will also join forces for a four-hour, hands-on workshop titled ‘Ultimate Beauty Lab’, where they will use their combined experience to share their tips and tricks in an interactive class for medium to advanced level makeup artists.

According to Carol and Pinky, the workshop will be “the ultimate chance for professional makeup artists to get their brushes dirty, polish up their skills and get inspired to take their career to a whole new level”.

“We want to show you how you can be creative about what’s in your kit,” says Pinky.

“There’s probably a whole hidden wonderland of products that you haven’t thought to use before and we really want to show you how to see your makeup kit and colours differently.”
