We see clients every day who suffer from adult acne and skin conditions like rosacea, but have you ever wondered what it’s like to walk a mile in their shoes?

When the face behind the popular beauty blog, My Pale Skin, Em Ford decided to reveal her makeup-free face to her social media followers, she met with the very real and harsh reality sufferers of skin conditions live with every day; bullying and verbal abuse.

And Ford isn’t alone. A disturbing study by the British Skin Foundation found a whopping 57 per cent of all acne sufferers cop verbal shaming from complete strangers for the condition of their skin, while an alarming 20 per cent of people living with acne consider suicide as a result of bullying about their skin.

Horrified by the responses she was met with on social media about her skin, beauty blogger Ford decided to take matters into her own hands and start an online campaign speaking out against the bullying of people with skin conditions, igniting a social hashtag, #youlookdisgusting, and viral status on YouTube thanks to her video’s incredibly moving message, and powerful title, which Ford says sums up her experiences of online bullying, “You Look Disgusting”.

If you’ve ever witnessed online bullying, or know someone who suffers from acne, take the time to watch this video, and pass it on…

  1. How incredible and powerful is this video! I have started focusing on treating teenagers, including teenage boys, with acne, as well as adult acne, and have been seeing the most wonderful changes in self esteem and confidence. My focus is to try and avoid the use of medication and use a combination of correct home care with powerful in salon treatments, which include Dermabrasion, followed by IPL on Acne (420 filter) then LED on either Acne or Post Laser setting. 6-8 treatments 1 to 2 weeks apart, and the results are incredible!
I would love to know what her skin care routine is, what her diet is like and what in salon treatments she is doing.
How incredibly brave of her to do this video!
