Underwater Makeup with Kylie Eustace

After a recent underwater art collaboration with photographer Beth Mitchell titled The Imaginarium, Kylie Eustace of Kylie’s Professional will be sharing her professional underwater makeup tips at a master class in April.

The Imaginarium is an art series inspired by the film The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus, the series combines underwater beauty with ethereal fashion by Brisbane designer Begitta. “All fourteen images that make up the collection tell tales of a beautiful gypsy girl named Valentina who takes on different roles to appeal to the fantasies and pride of those who are participating in The Imaginarium whilst embarking on her own lovesick journey,” explained photographer Beth Mitchell.

Kylie Eustace was invited to do the hair and makeup for this fantasy-themed shoot. “I was stupidly excited to do the makeup and hair for this highly imaginative series as it meant stretching myself as an artist and also providing an opportunity to show off the capabilities of our mineral makeup range,” said Kylie.

Underwater is undoubtedly one of the most challenging environments for makeup artists as water strongly diffuses light and subdues colour. Kylie was required to intensify colours and make bold every feature and detail. “Waterproof makeup application is incredibly different to regular fashion makeup and extended immersion in chlorinated water provides an added challenge. However, we could not be more pleased with the results,” Kylie said.
