M.A.C Cosmetics created the beautiful pared-back look at the David Jones AW16 event. Created by international backstage regular, Carol Mackie, Senior Artist for M.A.C Cosmetics, the look was all about perfectly primed, glowing skin, flushed pink lips – and standout lashes.

Mackie took the press through the M.A.C makeup look, as well as the Aveda  at a showing the day before the event.

Time was taken to prime the skin with Mackie using “a #132 Duo Fibre Foundation Brush to massage Light C Marine Bright Formula Softening Lotion into the skin to create a soft, supple base,” says Mackie. “Next, mix Prep + Prime Essential Oils and Prep + Prime Fix+ together and buff into the skin using a #168 Brush,” advises Mackie. The final step Mackie prep-wise was to buff M.A.C Strobe Cream into the skin for that glow-from-within feel.

M.A.C Face and Body Foundation was then used to “even out the complexion”, followed by a blend of Pearl Cream Colour Base and Prep + Prime Essential Oils to highlight. A stormy grey was used to “contour under the cheekbones,” says Mackie.

Brows were neat, brushed-up and controlled with M.A.C Clear Brow Set, while eyes were defined with kohl at the waterline followed by a “soft sweep of Evening Grey Extra Dimension Eyeshadow across the eyelid using a #242 Brush for a luminous finish,” says Mackie. This was then followed with lashes on the top (M.A.C #30 lashes) and bottom (M.A.C #33 lashes) with a “sweep of Extended Play Lash Mascara across the top and bottom lasheds to achieve a soft and wispy finish.”

A pat of Velvetease Lip Pencil in Frolic was applied to the lips and cheeks – “use the tips of your fingers,” says Mackie – to give a “soft, flushed finish.”
