Aveda goes backstage at Copenhagen Fashion Summit

[Wed 16/12/2009 11:50:22]

International beauty and hair care brand, Aveda, joined the Nordic Fashion Association and the Danish Fashion Institute at the December 9 Fashion Summit in Copenhagen, which was held to coincide with COP15, the United Nations Climate Conference.

The event aimed to act as a starting point for improving the sustainability and social responsibility in the global fashion industry.

Aveda created “eco-chic” hair and makeup looks for 40 models backstage at the event, which showcased sustainable designs.

Lead Aveda hair stylist, Palma Serensen, created hair looks inspired by 1940s glamour with natural, loose waves.

Lead makeup artist, Annalisa Proto, created a dramatic face using earthy tones. “The inspiration for the makeup was very much about a dramatic yet natural look,” Proto said. “We used Earth tones for a natural feeling with edge, and a hint of shimmer in the shadows to pronounce the features and contours of the face.”

Vincenzo Minore, General Manager, Aveda UK/Scandinavia, said:

“As a beauty leader in the green fashion movement, we are proud [to be] chosen by the Nordic fashion industry as the Copenhagen Fashion Summit’s partner for backstage beauty. We hope this initiative will inspire change in the global fashion industry.”

Darren Potter, Brand General Manager, Aveda Australasia, said:

"As an activist brand at heart, this initiative highlights Aveda’s commitment to the planet in helping to become a force of change in the fashion industry and the way brands conduct business in a sustainable manner."

Her Royal Highness, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark spoke at the Fashion Summit, as did prominent members of the fashion industry, some of whom also judged the design competition.
